Swigis founded in 2026. The vision for the school was developed by its founder, Mr Shaibu I. Gunu, with the encouragement and support of his daughter, Najat Shaibu Maltiti, an active member of the United States Army.
The school’s educational philosophy and programs were inspired by Najat experience within the United States Education system as well as her training through high school, Midwestern State University, and the University of Texas. These experiences helped shape a learning environment centered on academic excellence, leadership development, character building, and student success.
Today, Swigis Angels School is dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood education and building a strong foundation for lifelong learning. The purpose of the Swigis Angels Volunteer Program is to utilize the talents, skills, and experiences of individuals to provide greater educational opportunities and services for children within our schools and communities across ghana. We strive to build strong partnerships, encourage community involvement, and promote global citizenship in support of quality education.

When you volunteer at Swigis Angels School, you are doing more than giving your time—you are making a lasting impact on the lives of students and helping strengthen the heart of our school community.
We welcome parents, international volunteers, community members, business leaders, and other dedicated individuals who are passionate about supporting student success and creating a positive learning environment.
After their volunteer shifts and on weekends, volunteers have plenty of opportunities to explore and experience the beauty and culture of Ghana. Many volunteers enjoy visiting local markets, discovering historical and cultural attractions, participating in community events, and immersing themselves in everyday Ghanaian life.

What to Do on Your Days Off
When you are not volunteering or working, we will help you make the most of your free time. Participants can enjoy guided visits to local African art centers, cultural and social activities, and weekend sightseeing trips. These experiences provide a wonderful opportunity to learn about Ghana's rich history, traditions, and way of life while connecting with local communities and fellow volunteers.
Whether you are exploring cultural landmarks, visiting historical sites, or participating in community events, your time off will be both enjoyable and enriching.
Volunteer Placement in Tamale
As a volunteer with Swigis Angels, you will be based in Tamale, a vibrant and diverse city in northern Ghana. During your stay, you will live with a welcoming local host family, giving you a unique opportunity to experience authentic Ghanaian culture and daily life.
Living with a host family allows you to learn about local customs, traditions, food, and community values while building meaningful relationships with the people around you. In your free time, you can explore the city, visit local markets, enjoy cultural events, and discover the stunning natural beauty of the region.
This immersive experience offers much more than volunteering—it is an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Ghanaian culture, make lifelong memories, and create lasting connections with the local community.
This Program Is Ideal for patient, enthusiastic volunteers who speak fluent English and are passionate about education and making a positive impact on the lives of local students. Previous teaching experience is helpful but not required. Volunteers should have a willingness to learn, adapt, and support students in a positive and encouraging environment.

Start Dates: Programs begin on the 1st and 15th of every month
Duration: Choose from 1 to 24 weeks
Volunteer Hours: Up to 5 hours per day
Age Requirement: Volunteers aged 18+ and families are welcome
Accommodation: Volunteer House or Local Host Family House
Volunteer Placement Opportunities
Volunteers may choose from a variety of placement opportunities based on their skills, interests, and experience. Volunteers can work independently or alongside local teachers and staff to support student learning and development.
Available Placement Areas:
Teaching English and Literacy Skills-Tutoring and Academic Support-Teaching Music and Creative Art-Physical Education and Sports Activities-Lesson Planning and Classroom Preparation-Classroom Assistance and Student Engagement-Office and Administrative Suppor-Field Trip and Educational Excursion Supervisio-Child Care and Student Welfare Support Cultural Exchange and Language Learning Activities - Educational Games, Arts, and Recreational Programs.
These opportunities allow volunteers to make a meaningful contribution while gaining valuable teaching, leadership, and cross-cultural experiences in a supportive school environment.
A full program placements, Airport pickup, accommodation, three meals per day, weekend activities, the visa process, and registration fees is available upon request.

Our Leadership

Mr. Shaibu I. Gunu is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Swigis Angels School. He has extensive training and experience in business conduct, conflict resolution, transportation, the oil and gas hauling sector, and disaster management through the American Red Cross.

A dedicated community leader, Mr. Gunu has demonstrated exceptional commitment to civic engagement and volunteer service. His contributions have been nationally recognized in the United States, earning him the prestigious President's Volunteer Service Award, an honor presented in recognition of significant service to the community and dedication to strengthening society.

Mr. Gunu is known for his inspiring quote, "We can be the change in the future." Through determination, vision, and perseverance, he established Swigis Schools and has worked tirelessly to advance educational opportunities and community development. His long-term ambition is to serve in leadership roles where he can create meaningful change, inspire others, and contribute to building a better future for communities around the world.

Team Lead.

Najat S. Maltiti is a student at Midwestern State University and an active member of the United States Army. She leads the strategic implementation and planning of Swigis Angels programs, helping to shape initiatives that support student success. Najat is dedicated to developing innovative ideas and opportunities that empower students to grow into confident leaders and pursue their goals, passions, and interests with purpose and determination.

Meet The Principal.

Mrs. Fatima serves as the School Principal. She holds a degree in Human Resources Development from the University of Business and Integrated Development, as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration. With a strong background in educational services and management, she brings extensive knowledge and leadership to the school community.

Mrs. Fatima dedicated 16 years of her career to teaching, gaining valuable experience in supporting student learning and development. Her deep understanding of educational services is one of her many accomplishments and continues to guide her commitment to academic excellence.

Her family is proud of her educational achievements and professional success. Through her leadership, dedication, and passion for education, Mrs. Fatima strives to create a positive learning environment where students and staff can thrive.

Swigis Student Aid

Mrs. Aisha holds a Higher National Diploma in Secretaryship and has a strong background in customer service and administration. Before joining Swigis, she worked for a government institution, where she gained valuable experience serving the public and supporting organizational operations.

Mrs. Aisha is recognized for delivering exceptional customer service and building positive relationships through professionalism, efficiency, and attention to detail. Her ability to turn everyday interactions into meaningful experiences helps foster trust, satisfaction, and long-term loyalty. As a dedicated and results-driven professional, she continues to contribute to the growth and success of Swigis through her commitment to excellence and student support.

Administrative Assistant.

Hilda Quashie is the dedicated School Secretary. She bring over 10 years of administrative experience to our front office. Aseda previous work in customer service. This extensive background in organisation and communication allows her to efficiently manage the day-to- day operations of the school, coordinate vital communication and support the faculty and staff members.
